The house if full of character and charm and retains numerous original features including the ancient granite stones which once crushed the olives to make the olive oil.
Inside Roocello guests will discover the clever fusion of traditional Tuscan pieces with modern day comforts.
The garden and outside areas are an absolute delight with ancient cypress tree, shady leafy courtyards and a suntrap terrace beneath the mill’s original waterwheel.
Villa Roocello offers guests total privacy and tranquillity, however within a five-minute walk is the centre of the village where amid the narrow cobbled lanes can be found a small grocery store, a butcher and bakery which sells freshly baked bread every day.
There is also a cosy local bar for a morning cappuccino.
LIVING AND DINING AREA WITH FIREPLACE
The entrance from the courtyard garden leads into an impressively high vaulted ceiling room which is pleasantly cool in the heat of the summer months along with a perfectly situated open fireplace for use in the winter months.
This characteristic large 100 metre square space was once the focus of the ancient olive mill where the local villagers brought their olive harvest to be pressed.
Today this breath-taking space still contains the two original antique crushing stones once vital for the production of olive oil.
Today this living space is both comfortable and stylish and offers the ideal space for a family gathering or group of friends. Beside the fireplace there are 2 large sofas and 2 comfortable armchairs.
The formal dining area also situated on the ground floor seats 8 people.
The fully equipped kitchen is perfectly located on the ground floor adjacent to the dining space. The traditional kitchen has a large kitchen table seating 8 people.
A small bathroom is located on the lower ground floor – the bathroom has a WC, handbasin and European style half-bath with a shower attachment.
ACCESSIBILITY AND PARKING
Villa Roocello is positioned between two lanes which lead to the entrance of the house, one is an unsurfaced and narrow country lane and the other is a cobblestone winding lane which meanders through the village centre. Despite the lanes being narrow there are no hills.
There is parking for 1-2 cars in the courtyard and enough space for 1-2 cars in the lane outside the entrance.
Upstairs there is a spacious and comfortable sitting room with sofa, armchairs, TV, DVD, fireplace and door which leads onto a small shady upper courtyard which has the gate which leads towards the village.
Four bedrooms are located on the first floor – two with Queen size beds and two with two single beds. All have lovely views over the garden and or the surrounding country lanes.
Two bathrooms are located on the first floor – both have a WC, washbasin and shower – one of these bathrooms has a bath.
GARDENS AND OUTSIDE SPACE
Villa Roocello is blessed with the most wonderful outside spaces: there are delightful shady corners for relaxing with a favourite book, sun-drenched areas by the pool for taking the sun, a charming courtyard garden filled with the flowers of summer and secret corners nestled beyond a little red-brick bridge which straddles a small stream.
