Travelling with children is a relatively easy affair in Tuscany. Firstly, Italians adore children and remember this is the land of pasta, pizza and gelato (ice cream)!

BRUNELLESCHI’S MEDIEVAL FORTRESS
Younger and older children alike will love this experience – a visit to a Medieval fortress with underground prison cells, a 34 metre high watchtower and the chance to try on genuine armour and handle Medieval weapons.
NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM OF PISA
The museum is actually in the nearby village of Calci and is one of the most important natural history museums in Italy.
Kids can discover the different exhibitions situated over three floors including a gallery and courtyard of dinosaurs, a gallery of aquariums, a gallery of amphibians and reptiles.
THE LEANING TOWER OF PISA
VINCI
The small village of Vinci is the birthplace of the Renaissance master Leonardo da Vinci . The museum offers a special family hands-on experience where the children can learn more about Leonardo’s inventions.
VOLTERRA
For older children and teenagers who are fans of the Twilight Saga series, Volterra is a must see as it is the home of the Volturi.
PINOCCHIO PARK
Younger children will delight in the Pinocchio Park which can be reached in just 45 minutes. The park is dedicated to the Tuscan born puppet and is described as a living fairy tale.
The Pinocchio Park is situated in the small town of Collodi where you will also be able to visit some historic gardens and a butterfly house.
CYCLE AROUND THE MEDIEVAL WALLS OF LUCCA
Every member of the family can get on a bike and cycle the walls of Lucca. There are bikes for all age groups and in addition you can hire tandems, rickshaws and even an electric bike.
VESPA MUSEUM
This might be one more for dad but it is a very interesting museum with lots of Vespa scooters ranging from the very first one ever made to some surprising giant-sized scooters and other motorized vehicles.
