Small group experiences

Guests of Authentic Tuscany have the opportunity to enjoy fun, hands on cooking classes with our chef Olimpia. Learn how to prepare, cook and present a typical three or four course Tuscan meal including making fresh pasta from scratch! At the end of your class you will get to sit down and enjoy your meal with a Tuscan glass of wine or two!

Pasta workshops for families and children

A perfect opportunity for families to get together and have fun at one of our pasta making workshops. Adults as well as kids will delight in mixing the ingredients, rolling out the pasta dough and making all those different shapes! At the end of the lesson the pasta will be cooked and you will all sit down and enjoy your pasta dishes together.

Customised cooking lessons and holidays

Wine tasting and gastronomic tours

Discover the Pisan wine route and the quality wines of the region.

From Vicopisano you can reach Pisa’s wine region in just 25 minutes on a journey that will take you through some stunning scenery of vine-covered hills and charming hilltop villages. On route you can visit artisan cheese producers and get to sample many local products.

The wine route of Pisa known as the Strada del Vino covers a large area within the Province of Pisa. The region produces both red and white wine including DOCG Chianti, DOC and IGT categories.

Enjoy an informative and enjoyable morning learning all there is know about our region’s wine, visit the vineyards, tour the cellars and of course taste the variety of wines.


 

Discover the secrets of extra virgin olive oil

Situated just a 10 minute walk from Vicopisano’s village centre you can enjoy an informative and interesting morning visiting a family-run organic farm which produces an award winning extra virgin oil.

Visit the olive groves and small vineyard, where the olives are pressed and learn how to taste the olive oil just like a professional olive oil taster.

This unique experience will include a tour of the olive groves and small vineyard followed by a visit to the mill where the olives are pressed. Here you will learn which qualities determine a genuine extra virgin olive oil.

Finally you will be able to sample not only the award winning olive oil but also many other specialities produced on the farm. The tasting will be accompanied by the farm’s own IGT Sangiovese wine.

Once you have sampled all the delicious products you will also have a chance to buy at the small farm shop.

 

Brunelleschi’s fortress in Vicopisano

In the centre of Vicopisano’s historic centre is the magnificent fortress known as La Rocca.

The brainchild of the Renaissance engineer Brunelleschi, this impressive feat of Renaissance engineering was designed to both trap and defeat the enemy.

Brunelleschi’s Medieval masterpiece is both fascinating and intriguing and for a small entrance fee visitors can take a guided tour with either local historian Professor Giovanni Fascetti or one of his team.

Enjoy a couple of hours discovering the history and anecdotes surrounding this incredible building.

This is a wonderful opportunity to visit an historic monument without bounds! Visit the dungeons, climb the impressive watchtower and get a bird’s eye view of the surrounding countryside.

Children and adults alike will delight in trying on the burnished armour and handling the Medieval weapons.

Even if you are not a history buff we highly recommend a visit to this wonderful monument by Florence’s Renaissance master architect.


 

The Leaning tower of Pisa 

The Leaning Tower of Pisa needs no introductions as it is probably one of the most photographed monuments in Italy. Thanks to modern intervention and engineering this famous monument which once threatened to topple can now be visited and climbed to the top.

A visit to the region of Pisa would not be complete without a visit to the famous Leaning Tower. Apart from its precarious lean this is an absolutely beautiful monument which stands alongside others in a breathtaking square known today as the ‘Square of Miracles’.
